A while ago today, I wrote a post about Samsung's CEO Lee Kun asking his employees to get ready for the challenges the company is very likely to confront in year 2013. Well the CEO of the leading smartphone manufacturer cannot be wrong. He had things at the back of his mind that may be hurting his company's sales.

And sure there are others making inroads in the smartphone business - and one of these is none other than Sony. After acquiring the Ericsson's Xperia, now Sony is unleashing two new models this new year: Sony Xperia Z 'Yuga' and ZL 'Odin.'
The new Android based smartphones from Sony are rumored to include 5-inch 1080p LCDs, quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processors with 2 gigs of RAM and Adreno 320 graphics, along with a 13-megapixel Exmor RS sensor on the rear.
However, there is something rather odd about the ZL's front-facing camera that appears to be positioned on the bottom.
The Yuga will be the premium model and feature a water/dust resistant chassis.
When these will be available? Well Chinese media is reporting that Sony Mobile will be holding a press conference in the country on 15 January 2013 to announce the launch of new smartphones. None of this is surprising as we expect first official news on new Xperia handsets to appear at the CES trade show in Las Vegas, which starts on 8 January 2013, reports Xperia blog.
As for the likely price tag, the reports suggest that the Xperia Z will hit the market with a similar price as the Sony Xperia TX (LT29i). The Xperia TX is currently on sale for 4,298 Yuan in China (£427, €520, $689).
